CAHSEE administration dates for 2014-15 are:

November 4 (ELA) & November 5 (Math) is for juniors and seniors who have not passed.

February 3 (ELA) & February 4 (Math) is for seniors who have not passed.

March 17 (ELA) & March 18 (Math) is for all sophomores and juniors and seniors who have not passed.

May 12 (ELA) & May 13 (Math) is make-up for absent sophomores and for any senior who has not passed

Low Cost Internet Available

If your child is eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program, you may qualify to receive internet for $9.95 per month.

To qualify for $9.95 a month Internet service and a low-cost computer, your household must meet all these criteria:

  1. Be located where Comcast offers Internet service
  2. Have at least one child eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program
  3. Have not subscribed to Comcast Internet service within the last 90 days
  4. Not have an overdue Comcast bill or unreturned equipment
  5. Call 1-855-8-INTERNET (1-855-846-8376) to request an application

Senior Presentation Information for the Class of 2015

Attention Class of 2015! The Monterey Trail HS Senior Presentations are scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2015.  All Seniors are scheduled a time slot to present their Senior Presentation.  The time slots are either: 8:00 am - 9:15 am, 9:00 am -10:15 am, or 10:00 am -11:15 am. The 8:00 am and 9:00 am groups can leave campus and come back in time for 1st period.  Students assigned to the 10:00 am time slot will stay on campus after the presentation.  Time slots are given to Advocacy 12 teachers, listed here on School Loop, and are posted in the cafeteria.

5 Essential Questions for the Senior Presentation

Students will write an essay/speech that thoughtfully addresses* the essential questions in a 3-5 minute presentation.

  1. What was your intended future when you first arrived at MTHS and how does it compare to your present plan? Reference your freshman plan.
  2. What did you do while at MTHS to help you prepare for your intended future?  Include classes you took, clubs you joined, community service you participated in, resources you sought, etc… How do your best work samples show evidence of your growth?
  3. Now that you have completed four years at MTHS, how have you developed as a learner?  Reference the Learning Development Stages.
  4. What skills and strengths do you have that will help you succeed as you continue in your education and/or career? Reference the 17 Workplace Skills.
  5. In conclusion, how will you use your successes and challenges to shape your future?

*Students can add more to their speech, but at a minimum, these questions should be addressed in some form.

Students are encouraged to include experiences in clubs, athletics, activities, DATA, AVID, service organizations, community service, work, etc., that will add depth and meaning to the speech. 

Reminder:  Seniors must PASS the senior presentation to be eligible for Senior Awards and Recognition-including honor cords.

FAFSA Winners

EGUSD Parent Preview Nights
Elk Grove Unified parents, students, teachers, administrators and other community members are invited to preview the high school mathematics instructional materials that were piloted in classrooms throughout the district and have been recommended by the Secondary Mathematics Steering Committee for adoption.  Two preview nights are scheduled, one in January and one in February. 
The first preview night will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 29th.  The second preview night will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 2nd.  Both preview nights will be held in the Board Room at the Robert L. Trigg Education Center (9510 Elk Grove-Florin Road, Elk Grove 95624).

Don't miss the 5th Annual Winter TheatreFest

Tickets are now on sale for the 5th Annual MTHS Winter TheatreFest. Performances are on Thursday and Friday, January 29 & 30 at 7 PM. This year's program features dramatic scenes and monologues performed by students students from the advanced level theatre classes. The program also includes a performance of "Crushed", a hilarious look at romantic relationships. Tickets are $3 each and can be purchased after school in HE 5 or at the door the night of the show.
